After ratting out his Mafia cohorts, Giovanni Manzioni (Robert De Niro) and his family enter the Witness Protection Program and relocate to a French town. Despite the best efforts of their handler (Tommy Lee Jones) to keep them in line, Giovanni (now called Fred Blake), his wife (Michelle Pfeiffer) and children (Dianna Agron, John D'Leo) can't help but resort to doing things the "family" way. However, their dependence on such old habits places everyone in danger from vengeful mobsters.

The Family (2013) | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Donald Clarke Irish Times Unfortunately, The Family suffers from an extreme case of advanced tonal disorder. Rated: 1/5 Nov 27, 2013 Full Review The Family (2013) | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Mark Kermode Observer (UK) It's throwaway stuff, packed with corny gags about rich French cooking and annoying Gallic manners, in which light relief is offered by the sight of our hero torturing a plumber; think The Whole Nine Yards with cheese. Rated: 2/5 Nov 24, 2013 Full Review The Family (2013) | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Charlotte O'Sullivan London Evening Standard Clearly, De Niro is happy to cannibalise his glorious past, but for those of us who love him, it's like sucking on old bones. Rated: 2/5 Nov 22, 2013 Full Review The Family (2013) | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review The Family mishandles almost every attempt at humor and tries to make a lovable, “Tony Soprano Lite” character out of Giovanni, except the paterfamilias is far too mean-spirited to win us over. Rated: 2/4 Aug 23, 2022 Full Review The Family (2013) | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Sarah Brinks Battleship Pretension The stakes in this film are completely backwards. Feb 24, 2021 Full Review The Family (2013) | Rotten Tomatoes (6) Mike Massie Gone With The Twins The tone shifts drastically from comedy to drama to action, while wasting character development on asinine subplots. Leopold S Atrocious and tone deaf and unfunny and mawkish. Avoid!!!! Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/20/24 Full Review Tamara K While this movie was basically panned I thought it was great. People need to take it for what it is which is basically a silly movie about people taking matters into their own hands. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/27/24 Full Review Manuel F Look is a good movie overall little twist of the usual gangster movies it was different showing how the family have their own way to handle things Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/10/24 Full Review Jason Why was Michelle Pfeiffer in the role of a mom with a Brooklyn accent when she can do about 8% of a Brooklyn accent? [5.2/10] The parts where the pretty girl hit people in the head were fun. Rated 2.5/5 Stars • Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/24 Full Review Gareth D Clumsy, cliched, everyone is over the top.Enjoyable for a throwaway mob satire, far from being a good film. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/14/24 Full Review R B Robert DeNiro once again succeeds in his portrayal of a NYC gangster, whom somehow despite his violent ways, you just can't seem to dislike. A well written story with just about the right mixture of action, comedy and even a little romance. A must watch. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/06/23 Full Review Read all reviews
