I am very happy to share that last week I graduated cum laude from the Law and Economics master programme at Utrecht University with an average of 8,70.My LLM studies at Utrecht University have been filled with amazing experiences. This year I got to participate in the Herbert Smith Freehills Competition Law Moot in London, finishing second place with our team. In the past year, I also got to contribute to the improvement of our programme by being a member of the master’s periodic review committee where I represented my colleagues’ opinions in the discussions with our teachers.Additionally, next to my studies I have also worked as a legal intern at Bynder. Apart from the practical knowledge and skills I gained there, the work-study balance taught me crucial lessons about managing tasks, time and life in general.During my master thesis research, I challenged myself to explore a very technical topic in the realm of competition law enforcement. My thesis delved into the topic of effectiveness in the application of interim measures by the EU Commission in digital markets. I was incredibly happy that my thesis was awarded a final grade of 8,5. I am beyond grateful to my supervisor, professor Anna Gerbrandy, for her invaluable feedback and guidance during the writing process. I would also like to thank Carla Farinhas, for dedicating her time and expertise to discuss with me about interim measures. In the second to last paragraph of this LinkedIn post, I would like to express my immense appreciation for the people who significantly shaped my professional or personal development in the past year. I would like to specifically thank my teachers, namely Miroslava (Mira) Scholten, Jasper Sluijs, Zlatina Georgieva, PhD and Timo Klein for their guidance and exemplary professionalism. I am grateful for my colleagues and friends who made this academic journey fun and who showed true companionship. Most importantly, I am grateful to my family for their support and for allowing me to dream big. I keep on dreaming. While I am closing this chapter, I am thrilled to announce that my next professional step will be to become a Law Assistant in the Amsterdam office of De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek starting in October! 🎉

Last weekend we had a wonderful experience participating in the Oral Rounds of the Herbert Smith Freehills Competition Law Moot as the team representing Utrecht University together with Manu Batra, Helen Wychgel and Enno Kern!We were extremely excited and honoured to advance to the Final of the competition after intense days of preliminary rounds, quarter-finals and semi-finals, ultimately winning the Runner-Up Team Award! 🎉 It was my great pleasure to meet so many amazing colleagues from all over the world, and to get a sense of belonging to an international community of competition law enthusiasts. I hope our professional paths will cross again soon!Participating in this moot court has been on my secret little academic bucket list for a long time. Little did I know that I would learn so much and grow in so many ways in the past couple of months. I feel beyond grateful for all the formative experiences I had during this process.Accordingly, I would like to express my gratitude to our coach Jasper Sluijs, who has been an amazing coordinator and peer in this process, whom I want to once again thank for the "coaching part of being a coach", and who has shown to me how much it means when a teacher believes in his students.I would also like to express an immense thank you to De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek, and especially to Shubhanyu Singh and Agnieszka Bartłomiejczyk for their unwavering support, it has been a great privilege to be able to work with you.I would like to say thank you also to my family and friends whose support was unmatched and crucial in the intense preparation and competition stages!Last, but by any means not the least, I would like to thank King's College London for organising this moot court competition, and Professor Alison Jones for creating a problem question that allowed us to explore so many interesting, currently debated competition law topics!

In my quest to figure out the boundaries between social media and professional networking platforms, I thought of sharing this picture taken last week during our Law and Economics master's visit to the European Commission in Brussels. The EU Commission's work in competition law matters has constantly been a central point of our master courses, making it fascinating to listen in real life to policymakers and professionals working there and contributing to its mission.Thank you to the Law and Economics Society at Utrecht University for organizing this trip for our master group, it was a thrill! 🤗

What better topic and event to write about in my very first LinkedIn post? 🌟♻ ⚖ Last week we got the chance to present our group's consultancy brief at The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets on the topic of 'ACM and the climate crisis'. This event marked the final stage of one of our elective courses at Utrecht University which tackled all sorts of current legal challenges that the ACM faces.Together with Tais, Jasper and Andra, we talked about the problem of interpreting the fair share of benefits for consumers in different jurisdictions and the main takeaways for the ACM in reserving its leading role in the sustainability debate in competition law.It was an emblematic experience for me to talk about such a relevant topic and to share our fast-paced research at the ACM, but it meant even more that we got the chance to learn from such professionals who are actively working at the crossroads of competition law and sustainability.Accordingly, I have to say thank you to Zlatina Georgieva, PhD for the endless help and inspiration, and for coordinating this fun course with Rasmus Geertsema on the part of the ACM. I would also like to say thank you on behalf of the team to Mariska van de Sanden, representing our 'ACM client', for the lengthy guidance and positive feedback, it was really motivational and certainly some food for thought for the future!
