How Does Amazon Warehouse Work?
When items are returned to Amazon, products undergo a thorough evaluation. Amazon has a 20-point quality grading system that determines how returned products are rated and ultimately priced. Then, they’re listed for resale with labels based on the quality of the item. The label system is as follows:
- Renewed: This is Amazon’s version of refurbished. All renewed products have been inspected and tested by Amazon to work and look as good as new. It should have minimal-to-no signs of wear and comes with the Amazon Renewed Guarantee, which gives you 90 days to request a replacement or refund.
- Used – Like New: An item in perfect working condition. The packaging may have minor damage.
- Used – Very Good: The item has seen limited use and remains in great working condition. The packaging may be damaged, or it may come repackaged.
- Used – Good: The item shows wear, but remains in good working condition. The packaging may be damaged or it may come repackaged.
- Used – Acceptable: The item is fairly worn but continues to function properly. The packaging may be damaged or it may come repackaged.
Pre-owned items listed as “shipped and sold by Amazon” are backed by the 90-day Amazon Renewed Guarantee, meaning you have 90 days to get a replacement product or refund if your purchase does not work properly. However, you don't have to worry much, since products listed as “shipped and sold by Amazon Resale” have been professionally inspected, tested, and cleaned by Amazon and given one of the above grades. Third-party testers may follow a separate grading scale.
How Do I Find Amazon Warehouse Deals?
You can find “Amazon Resale,” technically the new name for Amazon Warehouse, in the dropdown of Amazon’s search bar. From there, you can type in the exact product you’re looking for and see if it’s available in the warehouse. You can also access the Amazon Resale homepage and shop by category instead of by product if you’re not searching for something specific.
A couple more things to note:
- Amazon defaults to showing you the new product price, so you need to click the “New and Used” tab under the “Add to Cart” button to find the used product prices.
- A handful of these tools come “Tool Only,” so you’ll have to add your own DeWalt battery.
